Parkside is not a chain, and it has never pretended to be. It is thirty-five units at the top of 11th Avenue East, run the way small motels on this coast have always been run: pull up, park outside your door, and get on with why you came.
What sets it apart is the cooking. There are one-bedroom cooking suites, smaller kitchen units and plain sleeping rooms — so a crew on a two-month contract, a family driving the Yellowhead, and someone off the late ferry can all find the right room here.

Prince Rupert runs on people who come for a while: port and rail crews, contractors, medical and seasonal staff, fishing families waiting on weather. A room with a fridge and a hob changes what a long stay costs and what it feels like.
